چکیده
A numerical simulation study was carried out to investigate a steady two-dimensional laminar natural convective heat transfer from uniformly heated inner circular cylinder placed inside an air-filled square enclosure with porous material. The enclosure’s side and upper walls were isothermal, while the bottom wall adiabatic. All calculations performed in range of Rayleigh numbers between 103 107. material porosity (?), solid fluid thermal conductivity ratio (kr), Darcy number present 1.0, 0.5, 0.01, respectively. results showed that for are less than 106, isotherms almost parallel three cold except corners adiabatic wall. rates vertical velocity higher horizontal velocity, especially at Grashof numbers. Also, use fibrous low relative reduces values average Nusselt number, addition reducing velocities along axis.

Effect of Prandtl Number on Natural Convection Heat Transfer from a Heated Semi-Circular Cylinder
Natural convection heat transfer from a heated horizontal semi-circular cylinder (flat surface upward) has been investigated for the following ranges of conditions; Grashof number, and Prandtl number. The governing partial differential equations (continuity, Navier-Stokes and energy equations) have been solved numerically using a finite volume formulation. In addition, the role of the type of t...
متن کاملOn the natural convective heat transfer from a cold horizontal cylinder over an adiabatic surface
A steady two-dimensional laminar free convection heat transfer from a cold horizontal isothermal cylinder located above an adiabatic floor is studied both experimentally and numerically. In the experimental measurements the effects of cylinder distance from horizontal floor to its diameter (L/D) on heat transfer coefficient is studied for Rayleigh numbers of 3×105 and 6×105. Computations are ma...
متن کاملNatural Convection Heat Transfer within Octagonal Enclosure
The problem of steady, laminar and incompressible natural convection flow in an octagonalenclosure was studied. In this investigation, two horizontal walls were maintained at a constant hightemperature, two vertical walls were kept at a constant low temperature and all inclined walls wereconsidered adiabatic. The enclosure was assumed to be filled with a Bousinessq fluid. The studyincludes comp...
متن کاملNatural Convection Heat Transfer From Horizontal Cylinders in a Vertical Arra Confined Between Parallel Walls
Laminar natural convection from an array of horizontal isothermal cylinders confined between two vertical walls, at low Rayleigh numbers, is investigated by theoretical and numerical methods. The height of the walls is kept constant, however, number of the cylinders and their spacing, the distance between the walls and Rayleigh number have been varied. The optimal spacing (confining walls) and ...
متن کاملForced Convection Heat Transfer from a Circular Cylinder Embedded in Porous Media
In this study an experimental work was performed to examine the effect of porous media on the heat transfer from a cylindrical heater in the case of steady-state forced convection. Porous media consisted of Spherical glasses of diameter 0.6 cm and air was used as the cooling fluid. The bulk temperature was approximated by the inlet temperature and Properties of the air were found at the film te...
